Park Visitor Centre and Logging Museum
Client:
Ministry of Natural Resources, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The Algonquin Park visitor centre is the jewel of the 116 provincial
parks in the Ontario Parks System. The 2-story structure includes
an exhibit hall, automated theatre, restaurant, souvenir and book
shop, visitor services offices and park research and management
facilities.
The Visitor Centre is built into a hill top providing a panoramic
view of the lowlands marsh area. The key function of the Centre
is to impress upon the park visitor the historical, heritage,
ecological and wilderness value of Algonquin Park. The exhibits
outline the impact of the natural environment and the partnerships
with the logging industry and Native Peoples in preserving this
national treasure.
Global Exhibit Technology provided consultation and design for
the AV systems in both the Visitor Centre and the Logging Museums.
The systems include interactive video stations, a video projected
animated manikin, two automated presentation theatres, and interactive
video and audio playback systems. Two automated sound-and-effects
dioramas have also been produced. (<<
